Autonomous machines take advantage of AI to solve some of the world’s toughest problems, impacting nearly every industry. Developing and deploying AI-powered robots, drones and Intelligent Video Analytics applications can benefit from NVIDIA Jetson TX2, an advanced artificial intelligence embedded system for Edge AI computing and Deep Learning applications.

The high-performance embedded system was specifically designed for video analysis, object classification, computer vision and quality control. It runs Linux and provides greater than 1 TFLOPS of FP16 compute performance in less than 7.5 watts of power. The high-performance embedded system has a powerful 64-bit ARM A57 processor; NVIDIA Pascal GPU with 256 CUDA cores; and 8GB of 128-bit LPDDR4 memory.

The software that comes with it (called JetPack, currently at version 4.4) is the most comprehensive solution for building AI applications. A complete SDK, JetPack includes the BSP, libraries for deep learning, computer vision, GPU computing, multimedia processing and much more. One can easily find as well links to other very popular AI tools for it.

Jetson Tx2 developer boards are too slow to be used for training neural networks. However, this task can be done using your desktop PC or some external services over the Internet (if you want faster learning times). Once you have the network trained/developed, you can download the results into this embedded device and use it in real-time processing in applications where bandwidth and latency can be an issue. These include factory robots, commercial drones, enterprise collaboration devices, intelligent cameras for smart cities.

Powering this device would require a powered USB 3.0 hub and as the components are very sensitive to electrostatic discharge on or near it, one should make sure such situations are avoided as it has zero protection for that.
